TO:        Affected Town of Peru Sewer Users
RE:        Sewer Line Installation
DATE:        January 2, 2019

Dear Property Owner:

As you may be aware, the Town of Peru will be proceeding with sewer line project in 2020 on sections of Elm Street, Main, Street, North Bend Street, and Maiden Lane.  As part of those improvements, new sewer lines, manholes, service laterals, etc., will be installed.

A new sewer main and/or sewer service lateral may be installed on, along, or near your property.

To allow the Town and/or its contractors to install and maintain the sewer main, you may be asked to sign a permanent easement that will grant the Town the permanent access it will need over your property for installation and maintenance purposes.

The Town may also be reconnecting your existing sewer service lateral to the sewer main.  In that case, you may be asked to sign a temporary access easement to allow the Town and/or its contractors to gain access to your property only to make the necessary connections during construction.

The Town will hold a public meeting on January 13th at 5:30 pm at Town Hall to answer any questions you may have regarding this matter.  We hope to also have our town attorney present at this meeting

We appreciate and thank you for your cooperation and assistance.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the Town’s Water & Sewer Department at 518-643-8125, or you can also email the Town Water & Sewer Department at .

Thank you for your time and consideration of the above.

Town of Peru Annual Drinking Water Quality Report for 2018

The Town of Peru Water Department is in the process of upgrading our water meter technology.

We are requesting that if you receive a letter or door card to please contact us ASAP and schedule an appointment to have your equipment repaired or replaced.  Currently, the Town has in use four different remote reading devices and needs to upgrade the oldest equipment.  Eventually the goal is to convert the entire Water District to radio read which makes reading more efficient and eliminates the need to walk up to each individual house.  Those customers who fail to respond to our correspondence for repair or replacement of equipment could possibly receive higher water bills due to inaccurate readings.

As always, the Peru Water Department strives to provide our customers with the best possible product and service.  Thank you for your cooperation.
