Baseball & Softball
Season
Early Bird Tournament - On Saturday June 5th, The Peru Youth Commission kicked off the 2010 baseball and softball season with its Early Bird Tournament. Opening ceremonies and the first pitch was at 9 am with the first game being played at 9:45. We were very pleased to see all the parents and Town Council members turn out to support our towns youth programs. This years teams consist of 2 Pony baseball teams, 2 Pony softball teams, 5 Pee Wee baseball teams, 2 Pee Wee softball teams, 5 Grasshopper baseball teams, 4 Grasshopper softball teams and 6 Tee-ball teams.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the coaches and assistant coaches that volunteer their time to help teach our towns youth the sport of Baseball and Softball. This year we have over 60 parents coaching in our town. Coaching a team takes a lot of time, energy and patients and it is greatly appreciated by all the members of our community.
We would also like to thank all the volunteers that ran this years concession booth. Each year a group of volunteers spends the entire tournament cooking Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and serving delicious snacks to hungry players and parents. All your hard work does not go unnoticed. Thanks to everyone for making this and every tournament in Peru a big success.
